Background

Hyundai Capital Services UK Ltd (HCUK) is a joint venture company established by Santander Consumer UK and Hyundai Capital Services Korea in 2012. It operates under the Hyundai Finance, Kia Finance and Genesis Finance brands, providing funding solutions for both dealers and consumers.

Job Purpose

The Senior Project Manager is accountable for facilitating the achievement of HCUK’s strategic initiatives through managing them as projects from initiation through to completion. The individual will develop the company’s project framework and utilise this to deliver complex programmes of work involving the management of project sponsors, resources, and internal and external stakeholders. Accordingly, the Senior Project Manager must have extensive experience across all aspects of the project lifecycle including scoping, scheduling, financing, risk, quality and resourcing.

Key Accountabilities

1. General strategic

Responsible for the identification, management, control, and successful delivery of HCUK’s material projects, as agreed including:

  • Support the setting and delivery of HCUK’s strategic initiatives, managed as projects. Plan these initiatives / projects and ensure they complement each other and collectively serve the needs of the wider business.
  • Engage with the Managing Director (MD), Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Senior Management Team to understand priorities and agree project deliverables, outcomes, and sponsors.
  • Identify clear, actionable insights as to how and when the strategic initiatives can be delivered. Communicate critical risks to business (including lack of skills / knowledge) before final approval and as progressed through project life cycle.
  • Chair, lead, or delegate authority within the monthly Project Oversight Forum (POF) where material projects are sanctioned, major decisions taken, change requests approved, and all projects reviewed and monitored to closure.
  • Develop and implement an agreed project management framework with agreed standards across the business. Employ framework for own projects and ensure utilised by other Project Managers of smaller projects.
  • Oversee all projects within the business, including those not project managing directly. Provide support and guidance to other Project Managers as required.
  • Formulate and maintain a variety of project documentation to a high-quality including plans, risks & issues logs, meeting minutes and update reports. Ensure action items captured, communicated, and undertaken, in line with plans.
  • Identify and implement ongoing business as usual controls and quality assurance actions as part of projects. Own key project related controls and quality assurance actions.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all related and polices, regulations and mandates relevant to any project and deliverables.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for the business including services and product development.
  • Encourage a culture of change, setting the right behaviours and remodelling change across the business, whilst supporting others focused on BAU tasks.
  • Champion and demonstrate an effective Treating Customer Fairly (TCF) culture and ethics within projects and deliverables.

2. Planning & budgetary control

  • Take a brief, or a general project idea and translate it into a clear and well thought out project proposal, with a clear and concise business case / rationale.
  • Create a project timeline so that all stakeholders understand what is required.
  • Agree project costs and people resources and ensure resources managed in line with agreed budget, escalating potential issues if they arise.
  • Making sure own projects stay on schedule and assist other Project Managers (smaller projects) to deliver the same.

3. Technical knowledge

  • Be aware of and able to use and adapt between the various methodologies for managing a project.
  • Maximise the usage of project management software.
  • Understand the various tools used within project management.
  • Assess, continuously monitor, and effectively manage all project related risks.
  • Keep up to date with the latest project management trends and developments.

4. Stakeholder engagement

  • Develop close, effective senior working relationships with our OEM partners, HCS, SCUK and other related 3rd party suppliers and organisations.
  • Establish strong working relationships with all internal areas of the business, including key stakeholders, project sponsors, MD, DMD and SMT.
  • Manage disparate stakeholder agendas, making sure issues and low-level differences within projects are resolved to the benefit of all.
  • Escalate any material issues, or where there are various solutions to project challenges, where a Senior Management decision is required.

5. People management and development

  • Effectively manage project resources not directly reporting to you.
  • Actively support and develop Project Managers responsible for smaller projects, through training and sharing of knowledge and experiences.
  • Monitor performance of project team members through clear and tangible objective setting and communication.
  • Provide formal and informal project management coaching and mentoring to all staff, where necessary and / or agreed.

6. Communication and reporting

  • Communicate effectively with leadership team and tell them what they need to know at the top line.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain high quality MI reporting suites and dashboards.
  • Manage the monthly Project Oversight Forum.
  • Ensure all communication delivered in a timely and clear fashion with expectations clearly set and met.

7. Insight and continuous improvement

  • Establish an on-going review process to continually improve and refine the company’s project management framework including processes, capabilities, and performance for all small, medium, and large projects

8. Risk and compliance

  • In line with the company’s risk and compliance statement of responsibility and objectives, identify risks, incidents, and breaches, in accordance with company policies and department procedures.

9. Other

  • Any other tasks from time to time as may reasonably be requested

Required Experience

Given the importance of delivering HCUK’s key goals, managed through Strategic Initiatives, the following minimum experience is required.

  • Can demonstrate experience in managing large projects, across multiple business functions and internal and external customers, stakeholders, and suppliers.
  • Is able to produce effective working documentation and presentations, including business case proposals and requirements, briefs and presentations.
  • Significant experience of the use of project management tools and software.
  • The ability to prioritize and multitask to keep projects running smoothly.

In addition to the above it is expected that any candidate can display a good understanding of the general market sector, can exhibit sound business acumen, have excellent interpersonal skills and is comfortable and confident when dealing with internal and external Board-level management.

Education

  • Project management qualification(s) such as CAPM / APM, PMP, PRINCE2 or Six Sigma preferred.

  • The job holder would benefit from possessing a full driving licence
  • HCUK employees are currently hybrid working [mixture of home / office]. The role will be based at HCUK’s head office in Reigate, Surrey
